‘THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL’ by ANNE FRANK

“This is someone’s diary. Every page written in confidence, each word revealing the thoughts closest to the heart of this young girl.”

Found in the attic of ‘The Secret Annexe’, this published work is someone’s diary. Someone who was articulate, spirited and definitely, very brave. Someone who was capable of explicitly expressing her thoughts in all honesty. Someone whose diary entries speak of the horrors of war.

It speaks of many things – poverty, hunger, fear, humour, and much more. But what it speaks the most of, hidden among the words of anguish and boredom, is hope and the courage of this 14-year old who wanted to ‘live’ again.

Readers describe it as “ one of those books where a silence descends on finishing it.” Indeed, it is. The story of a girl who kept the hope of better days kindled till the last breath, probably! This biographical masterpiece is what we recommend to our readers this week!
